What changes, if any, will you make to your game this season?
I’m going to focus on getting better any chance I can get. When I have time to do extra work, I will. I also want this to carry on with my teammates so they can get better as well. I need to get better at leading my team.
Motivation can come from many places. Did seeing a local public school win the division championship motivate you even more? Explain
I think it’s cool to see a public school win; private schools have monopolized football for better or for worse for many years. While it sucks to see a team we lost to win, it’s a cool thing.
As a senior and a leader on this team, do you feel any added pressure in that role?
I’d be lying if I said no. I carry the responsibility of leading my team to become better and building the culture we need.
How important is it for success for the player to not only get along on the field but off of it also?
You need to love each other to a certain extent. You need to care for one another, be “your brother’s keeper.”
What are your personal goals for the 2025 season?
I want to leave no doubt that I’m one of the best players in the state; I would like to get First Team All-State honors.
What team goals are you setting?
State title. We have significantly less talent on paper than in previous years, but I believe if a team like Liberty can win, we can as well.
If you could take one home game and play it at any stadium in the country, where are you playing that game?
I’d like to play in one of those European soccer stadiums with hundreds of thousands of fans; that would be amazing.
How often do you watch game film on your own?
I watch about 2 hours a week during the season. I’ll admit, it’s not my strong suit. With having some more experience, watching film will be much more helpful because I understand how to do it. It sounds simple, but a lot of guys don’t know how to watch film.
Would you rather beat your rival and miss the playoffs or lose to your rival and make the playoffs?
Beat our rival; oftentimes it’s the single games that make the best memories.
Can the band and cheerleaders fire you up as a player before and/or during the game?
Sometimes, depending on if the song gets me excited.
If you are invited to play in any of the all-star games after the season, will you?
I will not; I will graduate early and move on to the next level. I want to make my mark in high school and then go on to be my best self in college.
Which game are you looking forward to the most this season?
Week 1, Pic Central, going to be a great game.
What made you choose Cincinnati?
Where do I start? It’s just awesome. The culture of the team is incredible. Every player is close, and your entire day is centered around getting better. Every moment of your day is about competing and grinding. The staff is amazing; Coach Satterfield has a great vision and is a fantastic human being. Nic Cardwell is just a great man, Coach, and makes every one of his guys better. The recruiting staff are all great as well. The city of Cincinnati is awesome, and that means a lot from someone who tends to not like cities. All in all, it was an easy decision.
If your coaches were to have an MMA tournament, who would win?
These are dangerous waters here. I’m not quite sure, if I’m being honest. Probably Coach Stout because he is the largest human there.
What is a talent or skill that you have that would surprise those around you?
I like to learn about stuff and research things. I like to have knowledge. In short form, I’m a bit of a nerd.
Have you ever gone to a Columbus Clippers game?
I have. I’m not too much of a baseball person.
If you want, you can post a small recap of last season with personal highlights and any other big moments you have and/or memories you have from last season, whether it be a game, the bus ride to or from the game, or any other thing that sticks out.
Pouring water on Coach Ward’s head after winning OCC was an awesome memory.
