(Softball) Kilbourne 13 Whetstone 3 5 Innings

 


After working my shift, I made a quick stop in Dublin for a much-needed workout, and then I headed to Worthington to watch Kilbourne host Whetstone in softball. For Kilbourne, this was their senior night game, which had to be rescheduled a few times thanks to Mother Nature.

The Wolves scored a single run on an error to take the 1-0 lead after one inning of play. The Braves locked it up in the 2nd inning when Sophie Schroeder scored on an error. The Wolves' offense howled big in the bottom of the 2nd inning, starting with an RBI single from Mallory McKinney to make this a 2-21 game. Andris Studdard doubles in two with a hot shot, making this a 4-1 game. Josie Janosy made this a 5-1 game with a double. Becca Boue' doubled to make it 7-1. Karris Studdard laced a single to make this an 8-1 game.

The Wolves got a Boue' single in the third to increase their lead to 9-1. Whetstone was able to make this a 9-2 game on a single by #48 (not on the roster.) Then a throwing error allowed another Braves runner to score, making this a 9-3 game. In the bottom of the fourth, the Wolves scored four runs, making this a 13-3 game, which also would be the final score. Elder had an RBI single, then an error on the Braves made it an 11-3 game. Boue' singled in the final two runs for the winners.

For the game, the Braves had just 4 hits and 7 errors. The Wolves had 12 hits and 4 errors.

Athens Bulldogs use balanced attack to down Wellston Golden Rockets 41-0

  *Using the rosters from both Hudl and Max Preps* The Plains, OH Last night I made the hour-long drive to Athens High School to watch the Bulldogs host the Golden Rockets of Wellston. Entering the game, the Bulldogs came in 7-0 and ranked number 10 in division three. Wellston, much improved from last season, entered 5-2. In the game last year, Athens won 47-28. Wellston started out doing exactly what they needed to do to have a shot at winning the game. They came out and ate most of the first quarter with a drive that had last for 15 plays going for 69 yards. Things would start going wrong for them on the sixteenth play of the drive. They faced fourth and four from the Bulldogs five, and they elected to go for it, where the pass and the second attempt of the drive fell incomplete, forcing a turnover on downs.
