Recap of the 2024-2025 Season

Newark went 7-4 and accumulated the best season record in 20 years. All while going undefeated at home, another monumental achievement for us. I led the team in tackles for the season and was a team captain.

Would you rather play your biggest rival in week one or week 10? Explain

I would rather play my rival week one because it gives you that game to prepare for all offseason. However, no matter what, our guys are always locked in on our rivals throughout the offseason and regular season.

It was cool to see the Wildcats right the ship in 2024. What will it take to better the 7-4 record?

It will take dedication to our craft and unrelenting senior leadership. I and Preston Lunsford are returning captains, and we have been leading with this since the beginning of this offseason. We just have to keep the dream alive and keep in mind that we can make history.

Of the four losses last season, which of those teams do you believe was the best?

Upper Arlington was probably the best team. They were very well coached and have a ton of ballplayers. They made it far in the playoffs.

Which win meant the most to you last season?

The win against Lancaster definitely meant the most. They’ve had our number in past years, and getting them meant the world to us. It was the result of dedication and sticking together when the going got tough.

Can the band and cheerleaders get you as a player fired up before and during the game?

Absolutely, the band really makes you feel in the moment.

Which road stadium that you have played in has had the best overall atmosphere?

Zanesville, whenever we play there, absolutely every seat is filled. Home and away sidelines. My sophomore year playing there, that was the loudest a stadium has ever been for me.

With this being your final high school season, have you prepared any differently during the off-season?

This offseason I got to work on my craft the most; in prior off seasons I had to recover from my ACL injury, and I did track. But this offseason I wanted to utilize it to the best of my ability for football.

What is the toughest aspect of being a student-athlete?

Preparing is definitely the most difficult. I take multiple online college courses, so I always try to get stuff done weeks in advance so I’m never feeling rushed or pressured.

Who is the one teammate that is most likely to do something funny during practice when things are really tense?

Bodie Smith.

What makes you a good teammate?

I believe my leadership and willingness to help people have made me a good teammate throughout the years.

After the season is over, will you play in any of the all-star games if invited?

Absolutely, I plan to play in any all-star game I am invited to.

Would you share with everyone some of the schools that are recruiting you?

This offseason I have visited Valparaiso, Walsh, Mount Union, Denison, Mount Saint Joseph, Otterbein, Ohio Northern, and Baldwin Wallace, and I’m getting dates set up for many more. I’m just trying to get out in as many different environments as possible.

Outside of sports, what are you doing for fun?

I enjoy hanging out with friends and trying new things.

What is your go-to snack?

Chocolate-covered Almonds
