Post a small recap of last season with personal highlights and any other big moments you have and/or memories you have from last season, whether it be a game, the bus ride to or from the game, or any other thing that sticks out.
Starting last season, my team and I won our first 5 games, which hadn’t been done since 2001. Aside from that, the biggest thing that sticks out to me is the impact the seniors left last season. They truly pushed us to work our hardest and helped me become the player I am.
How long have you played football, and who or what got you started playing?
I started playing in 7th grade for Jackson Middle School, and I had played other sports in the past, but I wanted to try a sport where I could use my size and be aggressive.
What keeps you playing the game?
My teammates, the football community, and my love for this sport. I also love to push myself constantly to be better, and football allows me to do that.
Would you rather play your rival in week one or week ten? Explain
Definitely week 10 because we would have time to prepare but also allow the tensions to build up.
How do you get over a bad game?
Personally, I watch film to see what I could have done better, and then I make sure to work on that in training for my next game. This allows me to feel confident for the next game.
What are the first words out of your coach's mouth if you mess up during practice?
My head coach, Coach Waits, is big on the saying “do what's right,” and that is what he reminds us of.
Which stadium has had the best atmosphere, along with the thing that made it so good?
I don’t think that any school has beat our own atmosphere. Our stands are always packed, and our student section never disappoints.
If you could add a new opponent to the schedule, who are you adding and why? For each season, whoever wins the state championship is who I would pick.
Going against a championship-winning team would force us to train harder and cause us to make no mistakes.
What are your goals for the season?
Personally, I want to make 1st team All-OCC. But no matter what, I want to maximize my God-given potential and be the best version of myself. As a team, we want to win the OCC Ohio.
Which side of the line is the tougher of the two to prepare for?
The offensive line is 100% tougher to prepare for. I have a bigger responsibility, especially having to protect my quarterback. But also, offensively having to move another human against their will is a lot harder than defensively trying to get around them.
Who is the toughest teammate to square up against during practice?
Between Zayne Yolkum and Delan Chadeya. Zayne and I, however, have a good rivalry against each other and are always pushing each other to be our best.
What is the best part of being a student-athlete at Grove City?
Getting out of school and then heading to the rec center to eat dinner and prepare for a Friday night game is a feeling you can’t recreate.
What type of lineman is the hardest to go against in a game?
A defensive end who lines up far from the rest of the line. It causes me to have a good vertical step, which I do.
Bowling or golf, which one do you think would be harder to be successful at?
I have never golfed, but I would say golf because it is crazy to me when professionals on TV get so close to the hole from so far away.
Have you watched any of the UFL spring football games?
I have not.
