What are your personal goals for the 2025 season?
Last season I led my team in tackles for loss, and now that I’m going into senior year, I want to get more than I did last year while getting over 10 sacks.
What will it take to improve on the 3-6 record from the 2024 season?
Everyone has to put in the work on the field and in the weight room. We have a lot of freshmen coming onto the team this year, and as seniors, we need to show them how to put in the work so we can succeed as a team.
How important is it for the team to not only get along together on the field but also off of it?
While we are in the offseason, this is the best time to try and get everyone connected outside of football. My senior class and I try and hold team dinners and basketball tournaments to try and bring more people together.
Of all of the road stadiums you have played in, which stadium had the best overall atmosphere?
Definitely Valley. We played them for the first time last season, and they are a bigger school, so the stadium was packed with fans. We came out with the win in the end, and it was an awesome experience.
Which road stadium was the worst to have played in?
Summit Academy. We walked in there feeling like we were going into a practice. There were no stands to sit in, just a couple of small bleachers. There wasn’t a lot of energy; it just felt different than every other game.
After watching some of your Hudl highlights, you look to play from the start of the play right up to when the whistle blows. Is there a former teammate or college or pro player that you pattern your game after?
I’m a Cleveland Browns fan, so I watch a lot of Myles Garrett. He’s the perfect blend of size, strength, and quickness. I also watch Mike Green, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Chase Young.
Who is the toughest teammate? to square up against during practice?
Definitely our left tackle, AP. He’s very quick and strong; it’s hard to find a way to beat him in pass rush.
What makes being a student-athlete at Riverview High School so special?
I like the smaller school feel. With there being only around 60 people in my class, you get to know everyone in high school, and it feels better because in class you always have someone you are friends with. There isn’t a bad teacher at Riverview; they all do fantastic jobs to help further my education.
Of the wins that you have been a part of, which one has meant the most?
My freshman year when we beat Springdale was my favorite. They were our rivals, and it had been a long time since we had beaten them, and we won 52-14, which felt awesome.
How did you get into long snapping?
We have a long snapping competition in camp every year, and I decided I would try it, and I won somehow, so I decided to stick with it and improve.
After the season is over, if you are invited to play in any of the all-star games, will you?
Of course!
What makes you a good teammate?
With all the experience I have had over my past 4 years, I help out everyone with new techniques and drills that can help my teammates be the best they can be. I want to share my expertise with the younger classes to help improve Riverview football.
Outside of sports, what are you doing for fun?
I like to go out and eat with my friends, play video games, work out, spend time with my dogs, and nap.
What is the best sport to watch in person?
High school, it’s football. But professionally, it’s basketball, no doubt.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what are you eating?
A Cuban sandwich.
