What is the best part of being a student-athlete at Northern Leigh? The small-town feel. The whole community comes out on a Friday night. There arere times I’ll be in the gym and people come up to me and talk about the games. It’s pretty cool.
What is the toughest part of being a student-athlete? Probably the mental aspect. There’s a lot of pressure on you,, and you have to juggle performance on the field with the school aspect,, which is pretty hard.
What or who got you started playing football? My dad played football in college and coached. He fueled my passion for the game.
What is the biggest reason you continue to play the game? When the kids come in the stadium with 26 painted on their faces and when they wait for you at the ropes when you run out,, it is a very special feeling. I love being a good role model for them.
Which position do you feel you are best at? Definitely running back I feel like my vision is very good.
Of the positions that you play, which one is the toughest to prepare for? Linebacker is definitely the toughest. You have to fill the hole quickly. It’s very physical.
What has been your biggest moment as a football player? This year we were down 14-0 going into the 4th quarter against Lehighton, and I scored the two touchdowns to win us the game. The last touchdown I scored, though, was the craziest, as I bounced off two or three guys to score.
As an athlete, what has been your most embarrassing moment? My very first varsity carry, I fumbled and turned over the ball.
What are your personal goals for the season? I would love to eclipse the 1000-yard mark. I’ve been very close my sophomore and junior seasons but never reached it.
What goals are you setting for the team? I want us to play tough and gritty football. I also would love to be competing for a district championship come the playoffs.
After the season, if you are invited to play in any of the all-star games, will you? Yes, most definitely.
Would you share with everyone some of the schools that are recruiting you? Moravian, Mount Union, Ursinus, Lebanon Valley
What is the one song that can get you pumped up before a game? Enter Sandman
If you could live and work in any state, where are you living and working? South Carolina. The weather is great, and there is a ton to do.
Who are your role models?
Definitely my mom and my grandfather. My mom is there for us and shows up to all of our games, and my pop-pop is one of the hardest-working people I have ever met.
From Grady
Last season I got injured in the third last game of the season. Despite not being able to run or be very mobile, I pushed through for my team and actually had some solid runs.
