(Softball)Kilbourne ends losing streak with a 14-0 win over Westland

This evening, I and 57 other fans ventured to Wesland High School to take in the softball game between the Westland Cougars and Worthington Kilbourne Wolves. The Cougars came with a 1-6 record, dropping their last five. The Wolfes came in 5-3, losing their last three after winning their first five.

A wild pitch, a single by Ella Gregg, and a two-run single by Karris Stuttard made this a 4-0 game after a half inning of play. Another passed ball in the second inning allowed another run to score, making this a 5-0 game. A throwing error on the Cougars was costly as another run scored to put the Wolves up 6-0 in the third. The Wolves used an RBI by Rae Pfeiffer, a two-run double from Stuttard, and an RBI single by Juliana Orlins to give the Wolves a 10-0 lead in the fourth. In the Wolfes final at-bat in the fifth inning, Scarlett Elder singled a run in to make this an 11-0 game. Becca Boue' made it 12-0 with another single. Stuttard singled another run in to make it a 13-0 game. The final run of the game came on a passed ball, making the final score 14-0.

Scarlett Elder, Karris Stuttard, and Becca Boue' each had 3 hits. Stuttard led the team with 5 RBI. For the Cougars, their only hit came from freshmen. Payton Justice. Becca Boue' threw the one-hitter for the winners. She had just one base on balls to go with 5 strikeouts. Overall, the Wolves had 17 hits. The Wolves did not commit any errors for the Cougars; they had two. Kilbourne had 7 stolen bases, with Scarlett Elder and Karris Stuttard leading the team with two each.
