(Baseball) Highland tames Gahanna 5-2

 


This evening I made my way to Ohio Dominican University to watch Gahanna host Highland in baseball. According to MaxPreps, Gahanna came in 4-2, while Highland stood 5-2. This game had six hit batters, three by each team. Each team also had six hits. Jayden Collins would throw a complete game six-hitter, with 1 base on balls and 4 strikeouts. He also would go 1-3 at the plate with 1 RBI. He was one of the six batters hit by a pitch. Jacob Garber would lead the winners offense, going 3-3 with 1 RBI. Gavin Wiggard had the 1 RBI in the win.

For the Lions, Landon George and Anthony Pernotto each had 2 hits in the loss. George had 2 RBIs in the final inning to break up the shutout. Gahanna was hurt by three errors, with Desmond Higgins, Cade Lawrence, and Darek Whitfield each having one.

Collins threw 96 pitches, with 64 of them being strikes.

Isaiah Sweigard started for Gahanna. He went 4⅓ innings, giving up 5 runs, 3 earned. He had 1 base on balls, with 3 Ks. Gianni Swenson threw 2 2/3 innings, giving up one hit.
