What makes playing football for Byron High School so special?

Playing football for Byron High School comes with challenges and benefits. Being a smaller school, we have had a few rough seasons. Byron has always been a football-focused town, and we are working to make our town proud!

What is the best aspect of being a student athlete at Byron High School?

Having small classes leads to a very high understanding of all topics I learn. Being such a small school, teachers are really able to genuinely care for and help me whenever I need it.

What is the toughest part of being a student athlete?

The toughest part of being a student athlete is definitely managing a tight schedule. Balancing life between juggling two jobs, sports practice/off season lifting, spending time with family, and church is incredibly challenging.

Do you like playing offense or defense best? Explain.

I like offense better because I feel like it is what I am best at. In general, I just like hitting people as hard as I can on the field, whether I am on either side of the ball.

Where on the field do you think you are the best?

I believe my best role on the team is as tight end. Not only are my ball skills and route running good, but I am also able to dominate the line of scrimmage and pave a path for the run with my blocking power and technique.

Do you feel weightlifting and track aid you in being a better football player? Explain.

I truly believe without weightlifting and off season speed training I would not be good at football. Becoming strong and fast is the very essence of being a football player and, altogether, a great athlete.

With this being your final high school football season, are you preparing any differently?

I am aggressively preparing myself both physically and mentally. I have been taking speed training on top of my everyday lifts. I also have been doing the best I can to become the greatest leader I can be.

What has been your biggest moment on the football field?

My biggest moment on the football field was when I was taken out of a game because of a very substantial hit I dealt to another player. While at the time everyone thought it was dirty because of how loud it was, it was later evaluated on film and found to be purely clean.

What has been your most embarrassing moment as an athlete?

My most embarrassing moment as an athlete was losing 77-0 against Montabella High School and losing my temper on my teammates. After the game I was talked to by my teammates and coaches about my attitude, and it has paved the way for how I conduct myself on the field ever since.

If the game is on the line, do you want to be on the offensive side of the ball or the defensive side? Explain

I truly feel the need to be on both sides of the ball. Offensively I feel that our team will not get a drive going without me. Defensively our team needs me as a leader to meticulously direct where we attack the ball in order to end the drive.

What are your favorite and least favorite parts of practice?

My favorite part of practice is definitely scrimmaging against each other and doing hitting drills. My least favorite part of practice is walk through days. Even though they are so important, I can’t help but think about actually playing football or doing live drills when I am there.

Are you hearing from any colleges? If so, could you name some of them?

I have been in contact with coaches from Albion College and Anderson University. I have also been invited to multiple prospect camps from schools, including Davenport University, Northwood University, and many more.

Who are your favorite and least favorite pro football teams?

My favorite pro football team is the Detroit Lions. My least favorite team is actually now the Chiefs, even though they used to be my favorite. I feel like they ruined the sport and changed the physicality of the game in a negative way.

What is your go-to snack?

My go-to snack recently has been protein yogurt with fruit cut up in it. I also like dill-flavored chips.

Have you ever been to a Detroit Lions or Tigers game?

I have been to a Tigers game but not a Lions game yet.
