The Fairview Eagles made positive strides in 2024. What must you guys do to get over the .500 mark this season?
The first thing we had to do was hit the weight room hard, and we’ve done that this off-season. Besides that, we need to stay disciplined and keep each other accountable this season.
With this being your final high school football season, have you done anything different during the off-season to prepare for the upcoming season?
This year I've hit the weight room harder than any other year. As a team we’ve still been doing agility work and lifting since December.
Which game are you looking forward to the most this season? Explain
I look forward to playing Raceland the most. It’s been 8 seasons since we beat them, and that leaves a chip on our shoulder every year.
Which road trip are you dreading the most? Explain
Probably the trip to Paris, just because it’s the farthest away. I love it when other schools have student sections and their fans go crazy. There’s nothing like that kind of high school football.
What are your personal goals for your final high school season?
I want to have the best block-out percentage on our offensive line, be top 3 on the team in tackles, make all area and all district, and get an offer to further my athletic and academic career.
During our last interview, you stated that you wanted to be faster and more agile this season. Have you been able to accomplish those things?
100%. I’ve dropped 30 lbs and worked with the coaches all off-season to improve my footwork and overall agility.
What is your game day routine?
Once I get up and get ready, I make sure to get a good breakfast before I go to school. When I’m at school, I drink as much water as I can and I watch as much film as possible throughout the day to make sure I don’t miss anything throughout the week. Once we get out of school, I’ll grab a bite to eat before getting to the field. When I’m at the field, I’ll lock in, listen to music, and stretch as good as I can before we take the field as a team.
OT, DE, and MLB: those are the positions you let everyone know that you played last season. Which one do you feel that you are the best at?
I feel like I’m the best at OT. It kind of comes naturally to me. But I enjoy the defensive side of the ball a lot more. Both DE and MLB.
OT, DE, and MLB: Which one is the toughest to prepare for? Explain
I would say MLB is the hardest to prepare for. Not only do you have to prepare for yourself but everyone else on the defense. I like to make sure if they make a mistake lining up or I see something they didn’t in film I can help them fix it. Whether that’s the DBs, the other linebacker, or the D lineman I like to recognize it all.
What will you miss the most from the 2025 class?
I’ll miss the intensity they brought to the team. They started the culture change that we needed and set the groundwork.
Which player have you learned the most from?
Kaden Sparks. He’s a dawg and is one of the smartest players on the field when he steps out there.
If you are hearing from any colleges about playing at the next level, would you name some of them?
I’ve been in contact with a few colleges. I’ve talked to a couple of coaches from Morehead and U Pike but no offers or official interest yet.
What is your go-to snack?
Peanut Butter M&Ms.
What is your favorite class or subject?
U.S History.
Outside of sports, what are you doing for fun?
I just lift and hangout with my family and friends as much as possible.
Highlights from last season brought to you by the player himself
We really flipped the culture last year. We now have a winning mindset, and whatever game we go into, we expect to win. We also really became brothers. We would do anything for each other and talk to each other year around not just during football season.
