What are you going to miss from the 2025 class?
These were the guys who I played my first varsity snaps with as a freshman, so I will always remember them. I will specifically miss my #1 receiver, Billy Sedor; TE Nate Kilmer; and the heart and soul of our team, Xavier “Boogie” Rodriguez.
Quarterback or linebacker: Which one do you feel that you are best at?
I want the ball at all times, so I love playing both. I also pride myself on being able to lead and call the plays on both sides. I love running and throwing at QB, but I also love to hit and pursue on D. I see myself playing linebacker at the next level.
You are old school, being that you play three sports. Which of the sports that you play do you feel you are best at?
I grew up playing baseball, ice hockey, and basketball. In 7th grade I began playing football, and I chose to play basketball over ice hockey as my winter sport in high school. I started track last year to help with my off-season football and basketball training and to improve my speed. I would say football and basketball are my best sports at this point.
What are your personal goals for the 2025 season?
My goals are to get bigger, faster, and stronger and use that to improve all areas of my on-field play. I would like to help lead our team and help our new, younger players improve and contribute. Our goal is to win the section title and become better football players and men.
What are the goals that you are setting for your team?
We want to win. Section Title and move on to States! The end goal is to make it to the Dome in Syracuse!
What game are you looking forward to the most this season?
The game that I am most pumped about is Opening Night under the Friday Night Lights at home in September. I cannot wait for the season to start! I never look ahead to an opponent. One game at a time.
What has been the highlight of your athletic career so far?
My greatest moment so far was our come-from-behind win with 4 minutes left on the road against a team that had won the state title and had been in the state final game for two years. We stuck together as a team and fought back to shock the section with the win. I threw a TD pass to my RB, Matt Ogana, with 20 seconds left to take the lead. I still get chills thinking about it.
How long have you been playing each of the sports that you play, and who or what got you into each sport?
My parents always advocated for all of us to try everything and play multiple sports. Find out what you want to do.
I have been playing organized football since 7th grade. We have always been huge football fans in my house, and my father coached as well.
I have been playing basketball since I was very small. Rec, CYO, and then for our school.
I gave up baseball last year in order to run track so I could improve my speed for football.
Turf or Grass?
Dover High School, where I play, has a natural grass field. It definitely is not as fast as turf, but I love the feel. The way the game is supposed to be played.
What days and times do you guys play your games?
Friday Night Lights! We play Fridays but do have a few away Saturday games on this year's schedule. 7PM Under the lights.
Who is the best team that you have faced in a football game, along with the thing that made them so good?
Probably John S. Burke Catholic High School. They are a private Catholic school that, for some reason, is allowed to play in our public league. They always have size, speed, and strength.
What are your favorite and least favorite types of music?
I like everything, really, as long as it gets me pumped up or I can connect with it. My favorites are country, rap, and classic rock.
What are you doing outside of sports for fun?
I enjoy lifting weights, hanging with my friends, fishing, playing saxophone and guitar, and coaching youth sports, and I enjoy helping people in my community.
What is your favorite place to grab a good meal?
I like some local restaurants like Old Drovers Inn and Kent Pizza Garden, and I also like Chipotle.
Highlights from last season
The most motivating event from last season was our team's overall success. Before I arrived on the varsity squad, our team was playing 8-man football. We returned to 11-man when I was a freshman and had huge struggles and challenges. Last year we won multiple games against larger schools and made it to the sectional championship. We also knocked off the defending state champ with an insane 4th quarter comeback highlighted by a 20-yard TD pass to my RB Matt Ogana.
