What are you going to miss the most from playing high school football?
We had 16 seniors this season. We have been together since youth football. These guys have become so much more than teammates; they are my closest friends. We shared many memories and a connection on the field that I believe will only happen once in a lifetime.
What were your feelings as you walked off the field for the last time as a high school football player?
As a senior walking off the field for the last time, I had a mix of emotions—sadness, pride in how far we had come, but disappointment over losing to a team I knew we could beat. I also felt a deep appreciation for the memories made with my teammates, coaches, and the incredible support of our parents and community. The hard reality that it was the end of such a significant chapter in our lives was the most difficult.
What was the most important lesson you have learned from playing football?
From an early age, I have had a deep love for football. My journey started at age 7 with my father by my side, not just my mentor and coach, but also my biggest supporter. He spent countless hours guiding me through the game and life lessons. Sadly, I lost him to esophageal cancer my freshman year, but I can say without question that I would not have achieved the level of success that I have if it were not for my dad teaching me the importance of hard work, discipline, leadership, going the extra mile, and being a team player. These are the most important lessons I have learned from playing football that I will carry with me throughout my adult life.
Who was the best player that you faced in a game during your high school career?
Garrett Lundy from Waynesville.
Who was the best team that you faced during your high school career?
Lima Bath in the 2nd Round of Playoffs Senior Season.
Which road stadium did you enjoy playing in the most?
The New Fairborn Skyhawk Stadium, where we played our final senior game of the season in week 13 of the playoffs.
Can you explain What mark do you believe your class left on the football program?
There has been something special about our core group of 16 since youth; we have had winning seasons since our first Bantam Year when we were in 2nd grade. As a result, I believe we felt a strong sense of responsibility to live up to the expectations of our coaches, parents, and community to raise the bar, play to the best of our ability, and take our program to new heights. As a team we had a record-breaking season and achieved so many 1sts in school history; for example, we were the first post-season 1 seed in program history. We were the first team in program history to make it to the third round of the playoffs. We had big dreams to make a run all the way to state; unfortunately, it did not work out that way, but as I look back, I feel proud and grateful for the season we had, the records that we broke and set, and the memories that we get to carry with us forever. I hope our history of success will motivate the younger guys to do the same; there is no goal too far out of reach with dedication and determination.
What was the best part of being the quarterback for Greenview High School?
It allowed me to earn a leadership role with my teammates.
What was the toughest part of being the quarterback?
I carried every loss or mistake on my shoulders and felt a strong sense of responsibility when things did not go our way or plays were not executed as planned.
If you are invited to play in any of the all-star games, will you?
Yes, absolutely!
What was your biggest moment as a football player?
The first 4-week stretch of the senior season, beating what became the 2nd and 3rd seed teams at the end of regular season play. These were also sweet victories after losing to them by a narrow margin in our junior season. Also, our Big Thursday Night Lights Win against Waynesville with a live broadcast with former OSU Alumni Keith Byers and a trophy ceremony after with press interviews that followed the game.
Are you hoping to play football in college?
My goal is to select a college where I can continue to excel both academically and athletically. I am unwavering in my commitment to becoming the best student-athlete possible, a journey I wish my dad could witness.
