Le’Den Jones

Buckeye Valley High School

WR, SS, OLB

Awards won or earned: Conference Player of the Year, 1st Team All District, 2nd Team All State

What were your feelings as you walked off of the field for the last time as a member of the Buckeye Valley Football team?

It was a feeling I will never forget. Even though I was a part of this program for only two years, it felt like I played my entire life with that team, and walking off that field knowing I would never play with that team again is a different type of pain.

What mark do you believe that your class left on the football program?

I believe that my class was a perfect example of what it meant to be a Buckeye Valley football player. We all gave nothing short of 100% every day and always worked hard.

What was the highlight of your football career?

This past season we played Licking Heights in a really close game. We were down by a touchdown with just under a minute left, and I caught a touchdown, following it up with the game-winning 2-point conversion.

What was the most disappointing part of your football career?

The team's work ethic wasn’t the best. Lots of kids would do the bare minimum and think that was enough.

Who was the best player that you faced during a game, along with the team he played on?

Favour Akih from Delaware Hayes

Who was the best team that you faced, along with the things that made them so good?

Definitely Steubenville; they were just a well-rounded, disciplined, and hard-working team. They gave 100% on every play and executed every play almost perfectly.

Which road stadium was the toughest to play in, along with the reasons that made it so tough?

I never found a stadium hard to play in, but Steubenville’s was definitely different compared to the other teams I’ve played against. It had very narrow sidelines and bleachers all around, making the field feel like it was trapped in a dome.

Would you share with the readers some of the schools that you are being recruited by?

Mount St. Joseph, Ashland University, and Rio Grande.

What has been the best and worst part of the recruiting process?

The best part is definitely getting a text from a new coach or finally receiving an offer. The worst part is not continuing the recruitment process with a school you were excited about.

If you are invited to play in any of the all-star games, will you play in them? Explain:

Yes, I would. I plan on playing in the North/South All-Star game that’s coming up. I want to play because it would be an amazing experience playing against some of the best kids in all of Ohio. It could also be another opportunity to get more exposure.

What are your goals for the 2024-2025 basketball season?

My main goal is to help lead my team to a conference championship and then make a great run in the playoffs. I also just want to enjoy one last season with my brothers and make more memories.

Between basketball and football, which sport do you feel you are best at?

Football

What is your favorite class or subject?

Science

Who are your role models?

My grandpa and my dad

What is your go-to snack?

Iced Honey Buns
