Jets fly high over Cedarville 44-8

Cedarville, Ohio- Last night I made my way to Cedarville, Ohio, to watch the Indians host Northeastern. This would mark my first time at the school and the first time seeing each team play.

Things went well for the Indians in the opening quarter defensively. Declan Pollock (6-1,230) would get to Jackson Jones, holding the talented runner to just a 2-yard gain. Jones would be thrown for a short loss by Isaiah Christian a short time later. To complete the trifect for the Indians defense, Colt Coffey would get to multi-talented Jets quarterback Diezel Taylor for a loss of three yards. With 5:40 left in the quarter, Will Mossing would find Coffey for a gain of 25 yards. The quarter came to a close with Jones picking up 13 yards on the ground.

Cody Houseman (5-10, 175) would pick up 7 tough yards to give the Jets a first and ten at the Indians 15-yard line, with 11:11 to play in the half. The 13-play, 80-yard drive came to an end on an 11-yard run by Taylor. Taylor also nailed the point after kick out of the hold from Mason Shockey, making this a 7-0 game, with 9:29 showing on the clock.

After the Jets got the ball back, the offense would start moving towards pay dirt again. A 9-yard run by Jones moved the chains, then with 6:37 left in the half, Taylor threw a strike to the speedy Garrett Chadwell for a 25-yard score. Chadwell had to break a tackle before getting into the end zone. Taylor was true again on his kick, making this a 14-0 game with 5:17 left on the clock.

Taylor would be sacked by Jordan Eckstein for a short loss, forcing the Jets into a fourth-and-seventh situation. After the punt, the Jets defense came up huge when Houseman picked off a Mossing pass. The Jets would light up the scoreboard again with 0:54 left on the clock when Taylor threw a pretty pass to Chadwell for the 21-yard score, making this a 21-0 game.

The Jets had two big places left in the half. The first was a sack of Mossing by Mason Pelfry for a loss of five. Then, to end the half, Taylor found Chadwell for a 50-yard touchdown to make this a 27-0 game.

The third quarter flew by with the running clock. With 6:52 left, Chadwell went 7 yards to make this a 34-0 game. I was told from a very good source that Chadwell is getting looks from Ashland and Tiffen Universities. With 6:22 left, the DL BURNWORTH HIT OF THE GAME would come when Kaleb Moore (6-0, 171) plastered Steven Fletcher on the ensuing kickoff. Fltecher would pounce right up as he showed he could take a lick and keep on ticking.

With Carter Springs doing most of the heavy lifting on the next Jets drive, Taylor would end the drive with a 25-yard field goal, making this a 37-0 game. Taylor, a 6-2, 201 Junior, did everything but sell popcorn during halftime for the Jets.

The Indians, who had just 24 players on their roster, would get a sweet 56-yard touchdown pass from Mossing to Micah Burr, followed by a two-point conversion pass from Mossing to Mac Rader, making this a 37-8 game with 7:43 remaining.

A 22-yard touchdown run by Houseman ended the scoring to make this a 44-8 game. On the game's last play, one of the refs collided with an Indians player, leading to an interception by Shockey.
