Landmark Christian 47 Crimson Knights 0 (Indiana)

This afternoon at Mount St. Joseph University, the Ohio High School 2024 season kicked off, with the Landmark Eages out of Cincinnati hosting the Crimson Knights out of Indianapolis, Indiana. I spoke briefly to Coach Goodpastor before the game, and he said, "We are young.".

Things started out well for the home team when Stefon Hamerling took the opening kickoff about 45 yards to the Knights 25, but the Knights defense stood strong and kept the Eagle off the board.

The Knights had a bad snap that Ian Musgrave fell on, but the play resulted in a 15-yard loss. From there, the Eagles quickly got their offense back on the field. Noah Bryant would use some nice field vision coupled with some nasty line work to pick up 10 yards with 7:23 left in the opening quarter. The four-play, 43-yard drive closed on a 25-yard touchdown pass from AJ Skoog to a wide open Israel Marcum. Daniel-Hoke cleared the crossbar with his point-after-kick to make this a 7-0 game, with 5:31 showing on the clock.

On the ensuing kickoff, Jordan-Jacobson recovered the onside kick to put the Eagles offense right back on the field. Byrant would pick up 34 yards on two nice runs, with the final run going for a touchdown to make this a 14-0 game with 2:51 left in the quearter.

The Knights had a little run on the ensuing kickoff, but the returner fumbled the ball after taking a hard hit, making the recovery for the Eagles for Phillip Johnson. After a 20-yard catch by Marcum on a nicely thrown pass by AJ Skoog, it was an 11-yard run from Bryant to put the Eagles up 21-0 with 1:03 left in the quarter.

The second quarter had 9:2 left when Stefon Hamerling hauled in a 32-yard catch. The six-play, 60-yard drive came to a climax on a 1-yard blast by Brtant to make this a 28-0 game with 7:51 left in the half.

The Eagles used a Skoog 33-yard pass to Brtyant to set up the next Eagles score, and that came on a 3-yard run from Jordan Jacobson to make this a 35-0 game with 2:58 left in the half.

Just thirty-two seconds later, the Eagles offense was back at it, with Byrant picking up 18 yards. The three-play, 46-yard drive ended on a 28-yard catch by the soft-handed Marcum to put the Eagles up 41-0.

With the running clock going the entire second half, there was just one score, and that came on a 9-yard touchdown catch by Lincoln Womack with Truett Furniss doing the trowing, making this a 47-0 game.

The fourth quarter brought two nice defensive plays. Cameron Leggett would get Knights ball carrier Noah Smith for a loss of six. Then the Knights Parker Saxon pounced on an Eagles fumble.
