Fredrick Douglass uses a fast, hard-hitting defense to defeat LaGrange 18-3.

The game was played at Kell High School, and this marked my first time catching a game there and my first time seeing each team. There was a smaller crowd at the game, but they were into it; at times they were very loud.

The first big play of the game came when Marquavios Grimes from Douglass crushed Kayden Sutton for a five-yard loss at the 6:23 mark of the opening quarter. Lagrange would shake off the negative play and take a 3-0 lead on the drive in the tenth play, with Mason Calhoun nailing a 43-yard field goal with 5:23 left in the quarter. The drive went for ten plays, totaling 77 yards.

Noah Outland would sack John Wilson for a loss of fifteen to help get the LaGrange offense back on the field a short time later.

Elijah Hunter would pick off a Gryson Cockrell pass with forty-six seconds left in the quarter. John Wilson connected with Boykin Quintavious for a gain of 72 yards with 35 seconds left in the quarter.

The Douglass drive, which lasted for three plays and totaled 60 yards, ended on a 3-yard touchdown run by Casey Barner. Barner, just a freshman, ran the two-point conversion in to make this an 8-3 game with 11:53 left in the half.

The Astros offense was right back at it, with Wilson hitting Diontae White for a gain of twelve, resulting in a first and goal from the Grangers one yard line. The Grangers defense would stiffen and force a 26-yard field goal by Bryant Jose to make this an 11-3 game with 6:58 left in the half. The scoring drive took eight plays, going for 64 yards.

Thanks in large part to a sack by JaQuan Fletcher on Dylan Barber for a loss of five, the Astros offense was able to quickly get back on the field.

The Astros would go up 18-3 when Wilson found Adois McCary for the ten-yard score. The short drive of 23 yards took just three plays and left 2:25 on the clock.

Hunter would pick off Barber for the last big play of the opening half. At this point, the biggest difference in the game was the dominating performance of the Astros lines.

Even with the second half being scoreless, the game still left the fans with some big plays. There was a sack on Barber by Martez Sadler. The Astros defense came up huge with 6:31 left in the quarter when Barner recovered a Grangers fumble in the end, keeping this an 18-3 game.

The Grangers would recover a Douglass fumble when Hunter coughed up the ball and Ken Dreeikus Williams pounced on it. Barber would be sacked two more times before the game was over. Khalil Curtis and #70 (not on any roster I can find) doing the honors.
