Dunwoody Wildcats conquer the South Paulding Spartans 24-7.

These two schools did battle at West Forsyth High School, and this would be my first visit to the school and my first time getting to see both of these teams play. The Wildcats punt team made the first big splash in this contest when Preston Cooper raced downfield, avoiding any would-be blockers to take Jermain Tyler Jr. before he could gain an inch. The Wildcats defense would come up with a nice play at the 5:19 mark of the opening quarter, when Andrew Ainsworth crushed Albert McCoy for a loss of three. Then, with 4:36 showing on the clock, Christan Lee planted McCoy for a five-yard loss.

With thirty-five seconds left on the clock, the Wildcats found themselves facing a fourth and six. They decided to go for it, and the decision was made good when Matt Pearch connected with Danny Boden for a nine-yard gain and a big first down. The same combo would bring the first score of the game on a 32-yard touchdown pass. After Jude Torjak was true on the punt after the kick, we had a 7-0 game with twenty-seven seconds left on the clock.

The Spartans ended the quarter on a 23-yard completion by Kade Wigginton to Collin Edwards. The Wildcats put out any hopes of further damage being done a short time later.

With 8:55 left in the half, off of a double handoff with a reverse thrown in, Malachi Cranshaw sprited 20 yards to make this a 14-0 game. The drive totaled seven plays and went for thirty yards.

The Spartans would get a nice 36-yard completion from Wigginton to Braylon Daniel with 8:39 left in the half, but a few seconds later, Wiggington was picked off by Trevor Thompson.

When the Spartans got the ball back, they tried to go for it on fourth and second, but Harriosn Flymt and friends easily stopped McCoy, with 5:47 remaining in the half.

The Spartans defense came up big at the 5:01 mark when Lucas Hayes pounced on a backward Wildcats pass. The offense would cash in five plays later, when Wigginton found Isaiah Ford for the ten-yard score. George Lucio was true on his point after kick to make this a 14-7 game.

The Wildcats defense picked up a sack right before halftime, when Thompson got to Wigginton for a loss of five.

Thompson would record another sack in the third with 10:29 left on the clock; this one was for a loss of ten. Ford would pick off a Pearch pass with 7:36 showing on the third quarter clock. Wigginton would be taken down by #23 Cole Camp for a loss of six at the 6:11 mark of the quarter.

Mick Medley hauled in a seventeen-yard pass from Pearch, and the Wildcats were ready to score again. A nine-yard run from Caden Celestine set up the next Wildcats score, which came on a nine-yard gut run from Celestine to make this a 21-7 contest.

A 43-yard field goal from Torjak would end the scoring at the 2:10 mark of the final frame to give us the final score of 24-7.
