South uses rushing and passing game to dump the North 41-14 (Indiana)

Friday after work, I made the drive from Worthington, Ohio, to Decature Central High School in Indiana to take in for the first time the Indiana North vs. South game. This was also my first time visiting Central High School.

The North struck first when Nolan McCullough (Penn) found a wide open TJ Caldwell (Hobart) for an 80-yard touchdown. After Austin Deleon (Norwell) was true on the point after kick, the score was 7-0, with 11:00 minutes left on the first quarter clock.

The South would put together a game-tying drive, with Garrett Sherell (Brownsburg) doing his best Keith Byers impression by breaking a tackle to find pay dirt from four yards out. After Trevor Henkle (Zionsville) was true on the point after kick, we were locked up at seven with 5:27 left in the quarter.

McCullough would use his feet to pick up ten yards with 10:53 left in the half. Dontell Harris (Hammond Morton) was thrown for a four-yard loss by the South's Elijah Shankle (Franklin Central) with 10:27 showing on the clock. McCullough would find Demario Spence (Hammond Morton) for thirteen yards. The South defense would end the drive a short time later.

Jarrin Alley, wearing number thirteen, picked up thirteen yards to give the South a big first down. A nine-yard run from Dylan Maxwell (East Central) helped set up a twenty-eight-yard gut run by Sherrell to put the South up 14-7 with 4:03 left in the half.

The South used a nice play from Levi Oxley (Reitz), who stopped Owen Roeder (Northwood) for a two-yard loss. The North would find themselves down 24-7 with 32.7 seconds left in the half after a 34-yard field goal by Henkle.

Jackson Gilber (Westfield) showed off his arm accuracy when he hit Cayden Olinger (Brownsburg) for a thirteen-yard score to make this a 31-7 game with 6:26 left in the third quarter.

A couple of minutes later, we had a 38-7 lead after Sherrell used a couple of Barry Sanders-type moves to break a tackle and find the end zone from 36 yards.

The South defense would get a nice play from Brayden Hahn (Danville) when he got to Roeder for a loss of four, forcing another North punt with 3:33 left in the third.

Jarrin Alley (Bloomington South) hooked up with Logan Shoffner (Noblesville) for a 26-yard gain for the final big play in the third quarter. The drive would end with a twenty-four-yard field goal by Henkle, who looked like he should be playing college ball, making this a 41-17 game with 11:08 left.

Brian Wall Providence made a nice pick for the South and had a nice return but fumbled the ball at the North seventeen-yard line, and the North came out of the scrum with the ball. McCullough found Deakon Dilts (Mississinewa) for 36 yards. The North drive ended with a 24-yard touchdown pass from McCullough to Demario Spence (Hammond Morton) to make this a 41-14 game.

A sack from Shankle and a pick by Wall would be the last two big plays in the game.
