Name: Ben Kahle

School, St. Francis de Sales

Positions played: QB, TE, WR, LB

Graduating year 2025

Height and weight 6’3 225

How long have you played football, along with the reason or reasons you continue to play?

I’ve played football for ten years. I started playing football because my family loved the game, and I naturally did as well. It turned into a personal love as I learned more and my positions evolved. I love the discipline, the contact, and the teamwork, and I am looking forward to growing in the sport through my senior year and into college.

As the captain of the football team, what are some of the responsibilities that come with that?

It’s a role I take very seriously. First, be the best teammate I can possibly be. Naturally, I’m an example and mentor to underclassmen. Beyond that, I work to create a standard for the program and my position. Specifically, for our team, we have had a lot of hurdles over the past years, so I’m working to be the example of a culture change that will benefit years past me.

What is the best part of playing defensive end?

The one thing I have loved about becoming a defensive end after being a quarterback is giving the hits and not taking them. Being disruptive is a problem, and teams have to try to plan for using my speed to attack.

What is the toughest part of being a defensive end?

Fighting off pulling guards, holding my edge, and containing. Skilled linemen are a great challenge.

Which type of lineman do you enjoy going up against the most?

I like going up against the best lineman on any team, and may the most prepared man win.

Which type of lineman presents the biggest set of problems for you?

Linemen that don’t give a “tell”

What is it like to have to play against all of the Michigan schools?

It’s a challenge because there are many elite teams in our new conference.

As a player, what was the biggest adjustment of being moved to a league that is mostly schools from another state?

All of the traveling and some of the Thursday night games. Other than that, you just get off the bus and go to work.

Coming off a 1-9 season, what has to change for you guys to have a winning record?

Right now, we are 0-0. Last year is over.
Our mentality is one of the biggest factors in becoming one team and not a bunch of individuals. We are creating new expectations, and Coach Lindke brings in a lot of great experience, and he works hard for us, so we work hard for him.

What has been your biggest accomplishment as a football player?

In less than a year, I changed from QB to DE, and having outstanding colleges and universities offers me an opportunity to play for them.

Who is the one teammate who is most likely to do something to get a laugh when things are a little tense?

Deon Banks!

What are your goals for the 2024 season?

Have a winning record.
Win our rivalry game.
Grow my skillset.
Earn post-season recognition.

What is your favorite type of music?

Rap

What is your favorite class or subject?
Science

What are your plans after high school?

I plan to attend college and play football.

Earn a degree in exercise science.
