2024 Interview with Deaune Earley II from Warren John F. Kennedy

Name: Deaune Earley II

School:Warren John F. Kennedy

Positions played: DE/DT/OT/OG

Graduating year:2025

Height and weight: 6'1 270 lbs

What are your personal goals for the 2024 season?

I plan to make the D7 All-Ohio team this year, along with making 100 tackles in a season.

In your eyes, which is the hardest side of the line to play? Explain

I believe the hardest side of the line to play is on the defensive side because you really need to be able to have good play recognition while also focusing on your position.
For a lineman, what is the worst type of weather to play in?
It would have to be while snowing or raining because it causes the turf or grass to be slippery, and as a big man in the trenches, you need balance and leverage.

What will you miss from the class of 2024?

The way they showed me how to lead the program every day in practice, scrimmages, and games

Who is the best player that you have faced in a game, along with the team he played for?

I played 3-star Poochie Snyder from Canton South my sophomore year when I went to Sandy Valley.

What is one thing that you would like to do in a game that most likely will never happen?

Get a receiving touchdown.

The Eagles had a tough 2023 season, going 2-7. What will you and your teammates have to do to get back to winning games?

Since all of our starters are coming back along with some transfers, the process of getting better is all-year-round. For this season to be successful, we all need to stay on top of our position assignments and show higher levels of discipline. Bringing in a new DC, we need to get as sound as possible on defensive calls so we can perfectly execute each play call.

What is your favorite part of practice?

I love the team-run period where I get to go on scout team defense and challenge our offensive line.

Who is the toughest teammate to go against in practice?

Mason Streets

How long have you played football, along with the reasons you continue to play?

I have played football for 7 years, going on 8 in my senior year. I continue to play because there’s no other feeling than being out on the field while each side is going all out to do everything they can to win for their brothers.

What is the best advice you have received as far as being an athlete, and who gave you the advice?

Football doesn’t specifically prepare you for things football-related. It also prepares you for the game of life and teaches you how to become successful as a father, employee, and student. I’ve learned that from most college coaches I’ve spoken to and even some of my high school coaches.

With this coming season being your last high school season, do you think you will prepare any differently?

I think I have to prepare differently because this season is it. I need to do more than the required work to be more successful and better myself.

After your senior season is over, if you are invited to play in any of the all-star games, will you?

Yes

Have you ever been to a Toledo Mudhens baseball game?

Yes

Where is the best local place to grab a meal?

Outback

What is your favorite sports movie?

Remember the Titans
