What was the high point of your 2023 season?

Having two sacks in one game during a playoff game

What will you miss the most from the 2024 class?

The leadership

What are your goals for the 2024 season?

To have at least 50 solo tackles this year

What is the strongest part of your game?

Pass Rush

What part of your game must you work on the most to be a better player?

Finding the ball and getting there quicker

What have you been doing in the off-season to work on your game?

A lot of field work, such as lateral movements and lifting

Linebacker or defensive line, which one do you feel you are better at?

Defensive line

Linebacker or defensive line, which one do you feel is the hardest to prepare for? Explain

I think linebackers are tougher because they guard slot receivers and have tight ends.

What has been the biggest athletic achievement so far?

Being able to start in varsity

What has been your most embarrassing moment as an athlete?

I could’ve had a sack, but I was pumped fake by the qb, and I jumped in the air.

Looking at only the road games you have played, which stadium has had the best overall atmosphere, along with what made it so good?

Elder High School, I like the way the stadium and the stands were shaped, which were in an oval.

Do you feel that private schools have an advantage over public schools when it comes to recruiting for college?

I think if you are good enough, coaches will find you.

If you are invited to play in any of the all-star games after the season, will you?

Yes 

What is the toughest part of a Pickerington North practice?

Going against our OL, who have D1 offers

What is the worst type of weather to play in?

Heavy rain or snow

What is the one food that you cannot eat?

Green beans

Carson Neely, Port Allegany  Looking back from day one as a coach up to the present, what have been the low and high points of your coaching career? 2020 was a rough first year. We had maybe 15 kids on the roster in preseason sometime in late June. We ended up with probably 6 starters who had never played football in their lives, which isn’t exactly a recipe for success! I was also ejected from our game against Cowanesque Valley. We lost to DuBois 49-0 to end the difficult season... The future did not look so bright. - But fast forward to 2022, where we won our first playoff game 62-6. Followed that up with a win against the reigning western finals champion, Redbank Valley, in a 7-3 fist fight to advance to the D9 championship. In 2023, we won an overtime thriller against DuBois Area 14–13, avenging a 1-point loss at the 1-yard line the year prior.

  TJ Carper Zanesville High School Head Football Coach We will start with the 2023 season and then work toward the new job. Heading into the 2023 season, the Vikings were coming off a 6–5 season. What were your goals for the team after the last practice heading into your week-one game? We wanted to focus on ourselves. It didn’t matter about anything anyone else was doing. If we could fix what we needed to fix and get better at the smaller things, I felt that we had a really good chance to make history in 2023. Who was the player that stuck out the most after all of the practices were finished leading into that week-one game? Garrett Brown! He is a great kid with a great work ethic. He’s a go-getter with qualities that you want your leaders to have. He did everything the right way!  The Vikings started the season with a loss and ended the season with a loss, winning nine games in between.   Braylon Sturgill Ironton High School LB/FB 2025 What were your goals entering the 2023 season, and were you able to achieve those goals? Our goal every year is simple: win a state championship. We fell short last season, but we are coming back stronger. My personal goals were to be a full-time starter and contribute to my team's success. I was able to start and contribute despite a few injuries that prevented me from being 100% throughout the season. What is it like to play for Coach Pendleton?
