What were your goals as you entered the 2023 season?

Entering my senior year, my personal goals were to improve every day. Being better than yesterday was my mindset. As a team, winning the SBC River Division is a goal, but I expected more than that. A perfect 10-0 season.

What was your personal high point during the 2023 season?

Without a shadow of a doubt, week 2 in the playoffs. Beating Pandora-Gilboa 33-3 was amazing. Our coaches all week were trying to get us prepared for it. They were the eighth seed, but we knew they were a lot better than that. On their first drive, they kicked a field goal to get on the board. Our coach was happy with that, but I’m sure he wasn’t expecting to shut out the rest of the game.

Looking at only the road games that you played, which stadium had the best overall atmosphere, along with the things that made it so good?

Willard had a really good atmosphere for the first half when it was close. Once we started to pull away, their fans weren’t cheering as much. The one place that stayed loud for the whole game was Columbia. They beat us in week 2 of the playoffs my junior year, but their fans were definitely loud.

Staying with the road game theme. Which stadium was the worst to play in, along with the reasons why it was so bad?

Mohawk or Gibsonburg. I just remember it being muddy. Slipping and sliding all over the place. They weren’t great either, so the atmosphere was kind of dead.

Looking back at your entire high school athletic career, what was your biggest moment?

Playing Carey my junior year was a huge moment for me. It was my first time playing linebacker, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to do it. But looking back on that game, flying around and making plays definitely helped my confidence out, and just knowing I could take on blocks, cover wide receivers, and contain the outside edge. Everything just clicked for me in that moment.

Looking back at your entire high school athletic career, what was your most embarrassing moment?

My sophomore season, I was a scout team wide receiver, and it was a run up the middle. So I run out just to put my hands on the corner back to show that I’m blocking. I wasn’t going super hard, but I must have made him mad because he slammed me. Two of my friends were watching that, and I never lived it down.

As you walked off the field for the last time as a high school football player, what were your emotions?

I was a mess. It was the worst feeling in the world. I enjoyed going to practices and doing all the drills. Staying late with teammates in the parking lot to talk when our coach had to kick us out of the locker room when it was too late. And just like that, it was all gone.

What will you miss the most about being a member of the football team?

All the practices. Talking to coaches during practice. The drills that I loved and hated. Feed the team after Thursday's practice. Just all of the weekly stuff we did.

What is your biggest regret as a football player?

Not thanking the lineman more. They work their butts off in the trenches to help us win. Without them, we wouldn’t have won.

Who was the best player that you have ever faced in a game, along with the team he played for?

Connor Smith from Gibsonburg was the best. In his senior year, he was 3rd in the nation for rushing yards. We played them at home for the SBC River my junior year, and everyone knew to beat them, so we had to shut him down.

What was the recruiting process like?

With the transfer portal, it’s definitely tougher than it used to be. But you can’t complain about it; you just have to make the best of your situation. I went to a lot of camps, and going to a smaller school definitely makes it harder to get that exposure.

What are your plans after graduating?

I plan on attending Thiel College, where I will study business administration and play football.

What is your go-to snack?

Fudge Rounds.

What's your dream job?

Wide receiver for the Seahawks.

What scares you?

Living a boring life.
