How long have you played football, along with the reasons you continue to play?
I have only been playing football for 2 years so far, and this year is my third. I continue to play because I fell in love with the game when I started playing.
What was the high point of the 2023 season for you?
The high point of the 2023 season for me was being able to play varsity football in only my second year of playing.
What are your goals for the 2024 season?
A couple of goals for myself and my team are to go undefeated, especially in district play, and to make a deep run in the playoffs.
In watching some of your HUDL highlights, I noticed you seem to be able to handle several different moves that the defensive guy makes. What all goes into making something that is so hard look so easy?
Part of my success is thanks to the guys I practice against, who make me a better player every day and mentor me on how to stop the moves that the defensive player makes. Watching the film and really focusing on the people that will line up across from you really helps too.
Sticking with the HUDL theme. With so many college coaches looking at it, how often do you update your page?
I update my film not as frequently as some do, but when I get new film or better angles of certain plays, I do go and update it.
Most people who follow football have some understanding that the game is won or lost on the line. As a lineman, how personally do you take a loss?
I take losses personally as linemen, especially when it’s on us, but as most people know, football is a team game, and sometimes that means you can’t do anything about it and you just have to keep playing your game.
What is the best part of playing on the offensive line?
The best part for me is that you get really close with the other linemen and have each other’s backs, on or off the field.
What is the toughest part of playing on the offensive line?
It has to be the difference in size you will face when you play and having to be reactive instead of proactive at certain times.
As a player, how important is the grid game for you, along with what you try to get out of it?
The grid game is very important to me as a lineman; it gives me one last real check on my skill set before I start the regular season. I try to get a sense of what my weak point is in a game scenario to work on before regular play.
Who is the toughest teammate to square up against in practice?
The toughest teammate I have had to go against in practice is Jack Hogsten. He would go as fast as he could and as hard as he could no matter the situation, but it really helped me as a player.
Are you hearing from any colleges? If so, could you name one or two of them?
Yes, I have been hearing from several, but a couple are Centre and Morehead.
What is the strongest part of your game?
I would say my pass set is the strongest part of my game.
Have you gone to any camps to improve your game? If you have, could you tell the readers which camps and what you learned from them?
I have only gone to Moreheads Camp so far, but I have learned a lot from that camp. They really showed me how having different kinds of footwork will help against different kinds of moves from the defense.
With this being your final high school season, are you preparing any differently than you have in the past?
I haven’t really handled it any differently outside of being in the weight room more and more consistently.
Which game are you looking forward to the most this season?
I am looking forward to playing Ashland the most this year.
Outside of sports, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.
What is your go-to snack?
My go-to would have to be buffalo cheez-its.
Have you ever gone to a Kentucky Christian football game?
No, I haven’t yet, but I plan on getting to one this fall.
