What will you miss the most from the 2024 class?

All the seniors I used to play with were my mentors.

What are your personal goals for the 2024 season?

To get myself put out there and ball out, I also want to record 70+ tackles for the season and 1000 yards run.

What part of your game must you improve on the most to be a better player?

My IQ and slowing down my pace in the game

What do you feel the best part of your game is?

My ability to play around any play and catch on to the team's game plan, as well as my aggression on the field

Who is the best player you have ever faced in a game, along with the team he played for?

I do not know for this one.

What is the best part of being a student-athlete at Boardman High School?

I have the best coaches who are very supportive of me and strive to make me a better player every day.

What is the toughest part of being a student athlete?

The schoolwork on top of focusing on sports

What is the hardest part of a Boardman practice?

The cardio for me and the doubles

Focusing just on your road games, which stadium has had the best overall atmosphere, and what made it so good?

I would say Austintown Fitch.

Up until now, what has been your biggest moment as an athlete?

The time I had recorded 10 sacks in one game

What has been your most embarrassing moment as an athlete in any sport?

When I missed an easy tackle and let the opposer score

I have just started asking players and coaches this question. Do private schools have an unfair advantage over public schools?

No, I believe they do not, because it’s not what you have; it’s what the players can do. If you have a good school but no good players, what’s the point?

Besides sports, what do you do for fun?

I like to work out.

Have you ever been to a Youngstown Phantoms game?

No

What is your favorite genre of music?

I like hip-hop and rap.

Carson Neely, Port Allegany  Looking back from day one as a coach up to the present, what have been the low and high points of your coaching career? 2020 was a rough first year. We had maybe 15 kids on the roster in preseason sometime in late June. We ended up with probably 6 starters who had never played football in their lives, which isn’t exactly a recipe for success! I was also ejected from our game against Cowanesque Valley. We lost to DuBois 49-0 to end the difficult season... The future did not look so bright. - But fast forward to 2022, where we won our first playoff game 62-6. Followed that up with a win against the reigning western finals champion, Redbank Valley, in a 7-3 fist fight to advance to the D9 championship. In 2023, we won an overtime thriller against DuBois Area 14–13, avenging a 1-point loss at the 1-yard line the year prior.

  TJ Carper Zanesville High School Head Football Coach We will start with the 2023 season and then work toward the new job. Heading into the 2023 season, the Vikings were coming off a 6–5 season. What were your goals for the team after the last practice heading into your week-one game? We wanted to focus on ourselves. It didn’t matter about anything anyone else was doing. If we could fix what we needed to fix and get better at the smaller things, I felt that we had a really good chance to make history in 2023. Who was the player that stuck out the most after all of the practices were finished leading into that week-one game? Garrett Brown! He is a great kid with a great work ethic. He’s a go-getter with qualities that you want your leaders to have.   Braylon Sturgill Ironton High School LB/FB 2025 What were your goals entering the 2023 season, and were you able to achieve those goals? Our goal every year is simple: win a state championship. We fell short last season, but we are coming back stronger. My personal goals were to be a full-time starter and contribute to my team's success. I was able to start and contribute despite a few injuries that prevented me from being 100% throughout the season. What is it like to play for Coach Pendleton?
