Masyn Chalfant

Tri Junior Senior High School

Runningback and linebacker

Class of 2027

6ft 220

What is the best part of being a student-athlete at Tri High School?

I think the best part of being a student athlete at Tri High School is that they care a lot about their students; they make sure you get a good education and help you however that might be.

What is the toughest part of being a student-athlete in high school?

The toughest part is making sure you don’t fall behind in class.

What are your personal goals for 2024?

Rush for 2,000 yards and 30 touchdowns.

What is the best part of being a running back?

Being involved in every play. Sometimes you don’t get the ball, but it's still a huge piece. You can get a fake or your own lead blocker.

What are you most excited about this season?

Proving that I'm a top candidate for Mr. Football in 2027.

What is your favorite part of practice?

My favorite part of practice is live. You get 100% the whole time. You can really see if you’re ready for Friday night.

What has been your biggest moment on the football field?

I’ve had some big moments this year. I ran for 237 yards and three touchdowns in one game. But the moment that sticks out to me the most this year was week 4. I broke my fibula after a hard hit.

As an athlete in any sport, what has been your most embarrassing moment?

Probably last year at county track, I falsely started and got disqualified.

For a running back, what is the worst weather to play in?

Rain is the worst; the ball is all slippery, and the ground is slick. I would have to definitely say the rain.

Who is the one team you want to beat this season?

Northeastern. They got us last year for the first time in a couple years, but we are gunning for them next year. They don’t know what’s coming for them. They think they have figured us out.

Who is the best player you have ever faced in a game, and what team did he play for?

I would have to say Julius Ullom played for Monroe Central.

What is the one thing you want to do on the football field that you might never get to do?

I want to throw a touchdown.

Where is the best spot to grab a meal in town?

Any Mexican restaurant.

What is your favorite music genre?

Country

Have you ever been to a Colts game?

Yes, I used to go a lot as a kid.
