The highest point was being able to play a full year without any injuries; the worst was never being a team, and we had gone 3-7 after two amazing previous seasons. Who or what got you started playing football, and how long have you played? Definitely my dad, and I just felt like I had something to prove to myself and others. I’ve now played for 5 years, coming up on 6 years. Who do you feel is the strongest part of your game? My strength and how I am able to drive people off the line. Could you share with everyone the sports you are in and other school activities that you take part in? Yes, I love staying busy and being involved. I play football and wrestle for sports. Some other programs I’m in include band (marching and jazz as well), choir, science fair, musical, I’m an Eagle Scout, I’m a lifeguard, I’m in a bunch of science clubs, and I teach swimming lessons! Of all the sports and activities that you are involved in, which one is your favorite?  I get asked this question all the time, and I would have to say football, and a close second would be competing in science competitions. It’s amazing knowing I’m playing under a guy who made it to where I want to be; he knows the exact right and wrong things that will and will not get me to the level I want to be at! How long have you played football, along with the reasons that you continue to play? 12-13 years I’ve played the game of football, and I just love the game; all my problems go away on the field. Have you prepared this off-season any differently than you have in past seasons? Explain In the off-season, I’ve been very focused on improving my skills and physical fitness. I put in a lot of work in the weight room, sometimes more than once a day. I have a quarterback coach and a group of great guys in Canton that I travel to work out with regularly. Locally, I work with my physical therapist, Matt at One Body, on speed training and technique. I also train a few times a week with my trainer, Pete, at the Cambridge Wellness Co-op. There is so much support and respect for each other; we have been very successful in all sports. It creates an atmosphere and standard that is carried throughout the entire school. What is the toughest aspect of being a student-athlete? Finding free time! It can get very busy, so at times it gets tough to find time for yourself to take care of yourself. As a captain, what do you do to keep your teammates motivated? Speeches and leading by example. I have been playing for 8 years, and my dad got me to play. Looking at your Hudl page, you play both tackle and defensive tackle. Which one do you feel you are better at? I feel I am better at playing guard because you know what your assignments are and where the play is going. Defensive tackle or tackle, which one do you believe is tougher to play? EXPLAIN I think defensive tackle because, on defense, you don’t know where the play is going. You could also be getting double-teamed and getting trapped.
