Covering the Indiana State Football Finals

I first covered the Indiana State finals back in 2018 and have covered them every year since, minus the COVID year. I have stayed for all six games, minus the year I caught a virus of some sort and was able only to cover the Friday games. I did not want to take a chance of someone else getting sick, especially since COVID was still on the minds of so many.

I have now watched 72 different teams play in person from Indiana; after the games this weekend, that total will be up to 78 with these schools added to the list this weekend. (Linton-Stockton, East Noble, Brownsburg, Providence, North Judson, and Warsaw).

I can say Indiana does a great job of taking care of the media. With a different meal with each game in the huge Colts press box, stats are provided if you want them. There is always a person from the I.H.S.A.A. around if you need to speak with them. All of the staff that I have come in contact with, be it the elevator operators, the staff providing the food, or security on the field, have always been professional and willing to take care of whatever your needs might be.

As a fan, one of the best parts of walking throughout the dome is the wall that has all of the high school football helmets on it. I personally love the one that looks like the Dallas Cowboys helmet, as I am a lifetime Cowboys fan who has been to five of their games in five different states.

Tickets are $15 per person per day, with children 5 and younger free. That comes to 5 per game if you stay for all three games each day. The only downside with this is that tickets are digital only. But to make it easier for fans who do not have a smart phone, you may also be purchased in person at the Lucas Oil Stadium Box Office during business hours.
