Washington Township 23 Northern Highlands 8

Egg Harbor Township, NJ— A 30-yard catch by Jyair Moore got things going for Washington Township, with 8:38 left in the opening quarter. They followed that up with a 26-yard run from Colin Beeler and closed the 6-play, 90-yard drive off with a 2-yard touchdown run by Andrew Osborn to make this an 8-0 game with 7:16 left in the opening kickoff.

The clock read 3:00 when Carter Biattner sacked Washington Township quarterback Cole Aquino for a loss of four. The Minuteman overcame the sack, recovering for a 26-yard field goal from Luke Sheets, making this a 9-0 game with 0:46 seconds left in the quarter.

Things would go from bad to worse for the Hilanders when a bad snap caused Jack OCallaghan to fumble the ball, and making the recovery for the Minutemen was Caleb Palaganas, with 10:45 left in the half. After covering a third and one that moved the ball to the Highlanders six-yard line, it would be the Highlanders defense coming off big when Tucker Kanning picked off the pass.

The Minutemen used a sack by Osborn on Highlander quarterback Nate Johnson to end any hopes of the drive going anywhere. The Minutemen would go up 16-0 on a 9-yard run from Beeler and a point after kick from Sheets.

The third quarter would see the Highlanders make this a 16-8 game on a 14-yard run by Chase DeLuise and a two-point conversion run by Johnson.

The Minutemen defense started strong in the third quarter when Jaylen Robinson got to Matt Boydell for a loss of five. A 24-yard catch by Drew Vandersnow countered the five-yard loss. Nate Johnson would be sacked by Raymond McFall, who would force a Highlander punt with 7:47 remaining in the game.

Aquino would find Paris Pratt, who broke two tackles on his way to a 31-yard gain. Later on the drive, Washington Township converted a fourth and nine when Aquino scamped for the first down. The 11-play, 66-yard drive came to a climax on a 6-yard run by Beeler to make this a 23-8 game.A pick with a little over 30 seconds left by Da'Shawn Long iced the game for the Minutemen.
