Post a small recap of last season with personal highlights and any other big moments you have and memories you have from last season, whether it be a game, the bus ride to or from the game, or any other thing that sticks out.
Last season, we had the best defense in the MVL. It was a rebuilding year for us though, so I am looking forward to a great season ahead. A big moment was going into OT with John Glenn and coming out on top at their place. A tradition that continues after a win is celebrating in the locker room by blasting Toby Keith’s song, Should’ve been a Cowboy.
What has been your biggest moment as a high school football player?
Sheridan vs. Bishop Hartley, playoffs 2023. Hartley was driving down the field to school. We were up with just a few minutes to go. They were inside the 5-yard line, and our defense needed a stop. Our defense stuffed the run, which broke up their play, resulting in me recovering a fumble and stopping their chance to score.
How did the track season go for you?
I was pretty happy with my track season this year. I ended up with a 9’+ PR in shot put, at 50’ 4.5”. In discus, I had a PR of over 10’, ending at 135’. I got second in both my league (MVL) and Division 1 District meets, but missed the state meet by a couple feet. I am excited to come back next year and continue getting better.
What were you able to accomplish during the off-season to improve your game?
Personally, I have focused on daily lifts, attended numerous college camps and combines, and put on good weight for the upcoming season. Team-wise, I scheduled lineman workouts for all high school linemen. This gave us a chance to work on our techniques, go over plays, and run through new drills that I have brought back from the camps. We have a couple new players this year, and I felt it was important to get them involved quickly so they can be ready for week 1.
What part of your game do you feel is the strongest?
My run defense. I believe I come off the ball fast and can get good leverage quickly.
What is the toughest type of offensive lineman to go against?
An offensive lineman who is technically sound, has studied film, and understands his offense.
Who is the best player that you have faced in a game, along with the team they were on?
Chris Gargasz (2025 – Tri-Valley) would probably be the toughest lineman I have been up against.
How important is it to you that the team gets along both on the field and off of it?
Very important, especially since most of the guys on the team are friends and have grown up with each other. We do weekly position meals at each other’s houses and attend team-building events throughout the summer and fall (camps, pool parties, county tug-of-war competitions, and visiting the Football Hall of Fame in Canton).
How do you get over a bad game?
I like to learn from any mistakes or issues that come up during a game. After the game, I go home and watch film. I talk to my family about the game. I try to head into Saturday morning team film with an open mind. Our team culture is built around RMA (Right Mental Attitude).
What are the three reasons you play football?
Brotherhood—Being part of something bigger than yourself.
Tradition—My older brothers and my dad played for the same high school I attend. Also, our community is very supportive of our school sports.
Physical Outlet – Being able to hit people.
Who is the toughest teammate to square up against during practice?
Currently, it would have to be Milo Bullock. In the past, it would probably be Cole Davis (Denison) and Jack Robinette (Wilmington).
If you are invited to play in any of the all-star games after the season, will you?
Yes, with the approval of future coaches. Our MVL and LCL All-Star games have been great games in the past. It would be a chance to play with the guys that I have been going up against since biddy league.
Could you share with the readers some of the colleges that you are hearing from?
Currently, I have offers from Wheeling University, Denison University, Muskingum University, and Ohio Wesleyan University. Other colleges I am currently talking to are Robert Morris University, Walsh University, John Carroll University, Carnegie Mellon University, and Thomas More University. I have also been contacted by several colleges regarding their track programs.
What are your favorite and least favorite types of music?
Favorite – Folk Country
Least Favorite – New Country
Did you watch any of the spring football games from the UFL?
I did watch a few highlights from the Michigan Panthers and Houston Roughnecks. I never got around to watching full games, though.
What is your go-to snack?
Chocolate donuts
