Tyson Pino

Butler Area Senior High School

Free Safety, Wide Receiver

2026

6’0”, 189 lbs

Jersey Number 9

Awards won or earned: I’ve lettered in both football and track. This spring I did track for the first time and got 2nd at two invites for javelin and qualified for WPIALS in both long jump and javelin. I also made it to #7 all time at Butler for javelin.

What are you going to miss the most from the 2025 class?

My friends. You get close playing with guys over the years, and I will definitely miss them.

With this being your final football season, are you preparing any differently?

Not really; I have always put the work in. But I am pushing a little harder. I am putting in as much offseason work as possible. My goal for my senior year was to get bigger, faster, and stronger. I have put on 30 lbs of muscle since last year at this time and dropped my 40 time by 3 tenths of a second.

With you switching positions this season, what goals have you set for yourself?

To be a two-way starter and impact player. I want to be involved in every play.

What goals will you set for your team?

To be better than last year. I want us to have a winning record.

What are you looking forward to the most this season?

Winning, having fun, and enjoying my senior year with my friends.

Which road stadium do you like playing in the most?

Hollidaysburg, they bring in a lot of fans.

What is the biggest lesson that you have learned from playing football?

That hard work pays off. You will never regret working hard and putting the extra time in.

If you could change one rule in high school football, what would it be and why?

I would like to change the pass interference call. I wish they were spot fouls and not 15 yards.

What makes you a good teammate?

I am selfless. I have always been a team-first player. I will do whatever it takes to help my team win.

How do you get over a bad game?

I watch film, learn, and move on. I am pretty good about bouncing back and looking forward to the next game.

After the season is over, if you are invited to play in any of the all-star games, will you?

Yes!

What is your favorite weather to play in?

Definitely NOT rain. I love playing on a sunny, warm day.

Where is the best local spot to grab a pizza?

Supremos for sure.

What is your favorite energy drink?

I don’t drink energy drinks.

What scares you?

Snakes.

If you want, you can post a small recap of last season with personal highlights and any other big moments you have and/or memories you have from last season, whether it be a game, the bus ride to or from the game, or any other thing that sticks out.

I spent the entire summer last year preparing as a quarterback. It wasn’t until right before the season that I switched to free safety and wide receiver. It was honestly the best thing that could have happened. I have always loved those positions but became a QB because the team needed me. Since I hadn’t been in those positions since I was in 7th grade, I had to work myself into a starting spot, which I eventually did. My favorite moment was at our Meadville game. It started to pour down rain right before half, and I was in at Free Safety. I knew exactly where the quarterback was going to throw it and jumped the route and ran back for an 81-yard touchdown. I love playing football, even when we lose. I have been playing with some of these guys since I was 9, so I am looking forward to finishing out my senior year with them. My team works hard in the offseason and supports each other; we are always having fun. 2024 was a great year, and I am really going to miss the seniors, but I am really looking forward to the 2025 season. I hope we surprise everyone.
