(Baseball) Pickerington North 16 Gahanna 6

After I worked and went to the gym, I drove a short distance to take in the Pickerington North at Gahanna baseball game. It was senior night for the Lions, and the crowd was of excellent size. They were treated to a pretty good game for five innings. At that point the Lions had taken a 6-3 lead. They had overcome some shaky play by their defense, aided by a strong wind to overcome being down 3-0. In the sixth and seventh innings combined, the Panthers scored 13 runs to post the 16-6 blowout win. In those two innings, the Panthers' bats came alive, and they took advantage of three errors, all by the infield, along with some untimely walks by the Lions' pitching.

Nolan Sanders had a three-run bomb for the Panthers, with 5 RBI. He had three hits overall. Gabe Dixon had just one hit, but it was a big triple, and he had 1 RBI on the day. Xavier Notestone, Brent Parsons, Myles Crockett, and Jackson Turnbull each had 2 RBIs. Parsons led that group with two base hits. Nick Markell also drove in a run for the winners.

For Gahanna, Cade Lawrence had two hits and an RBI. AJ Schuller, Michael Barker, Aiden Piatt, and Darek Whitfield each drove in a run. For the game, the Lions had 7 hits, while the Panthers totaled ten. The Panthers' pitching totals 10 strikeouts compared to seven for the Lions. The Lions batters were walked a total of five times, with Anthony Pernotto picking up three of those.
